Profil du conférencier (anglais)

Robert Ward
Director Global Forecasting

Economist Intelligence Unit
Robert Ward is the Director of the global forecasting team. In this role he oversees the Economist Intelligence Unit's global forecast and in cooperation with country specialists, also analyses key global economic trends.
Previously, Robert was the Economist Intelligence Unit's chief automotive analyst and a senior member of the Economist Intelligence Unit's Asia team with special responsibility for Japan and the Koreas. With almost 20 years of experience working on or in the region, seven of which were spent living in Japan, Robert remains one of the Economist Intelligence Unit's leading Asia specialists and is well placed to make sense of the complex dynamics in the region's economic, political and business spheres. His on-the-ground-experience of Asian markets also gives him a unique insight into regional business issues.
In addition to writing on the region for a variety of publications including the Wall Street Journal, The Far Eastern Economic Review (and the Japanese press), Robert presents frequently to companies and organisations based inside and outside the region—he is, for example, a regular presenter at the Economist Intelligence Unit's biannual flagship Corporate Network Asia-Pacific strategic forecasts and has spoken for a wide variety of outside clients including, recently, the Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan's largest newspaper, and the Performance and Reward Centre, a human resources promotion organisation. He is also called upon regularly to give his reaction to events to radio and television media, including the BBC, CNN, and CNBC. Robert's speaking style is lively and accessible and demonstrates clearly his deep interest in the region.
Before joining the Economist Intelligence Unit in 1997 Robert worked in Tokyo in the international rating division of the Japan Bond Research Institute (now Rating and Investment Information), Japan's largest bond rating agency. He holds a BA and an MA from Cambridge University and is a fluent speaker of Japanese.
Specialist topics:
With nearly 20 years of experience in the Asia region, almost 10 of which were spent in Japan, Robert is well equipped to comment on and analyse Asia's fast-moving economic and political developments.
